Nebraska’s Chimney Rock was one of the best known landmarks on the Oregon Trail, the California Trail, and the Mormon Trail during the mid-nineteenth century. Today it still preeminent over the nearby landscape, soaring 4,228 feet above sea level. We got to see it in the peak of sunflower season – early September of 2016.
Just as the pioneers who were settling across the United States needed guidance, we need guidance today. God’s Word promises us that guidance comes from trusting in Him.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6.
Our guidance comes from trusting God – not our horoscope, nor our best friend, nor ourselves. Other people may have good intentions, but only God is all-wise and able to do what is best.
Even when the way is unclear, we must wait on Him before moving ahead. He is the only One who knows what lies beyond and is able to provide for us and protect us. As we submit and yield to Him, even when we may desire to do what we want, we will find that our lives are much better being left in His hands.
