Like Calves Let Out to Pasture

7AAE34F3-0773-4545-8B96-F49D0836D57FThese bison in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge caught our eye on this beautiful day in May 2016. In particular, this baby bison attracted our attention as he gleefully frolicked within the security of his herd.

Babies play, be they baby humans or baby bison. When do they play? When they are content and satisfied. When they have no worries. When all their needs are met. When they feel good and are safe.

“But for you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.” Malachi 4:2.

God’s Word makes it clear that there are benefits for those who fear Him. So what does it mean to fear the name of God? It simply means to love Him, worship Him, and give Him the honor that is due Him. And what happens when I do this? His presence brings healing to my life, and I am free and full of joy! Like this baby bison, carefree and secure, I am blessed when I elevate the Lord instead of myself.
