The River Will Not Overflow You

9CF0A2A0-6CB1-44B5-B856-F5561A2B2B1AThe Columbia River is like a beautiful legend come to life. I first became infatuated with this gorgeous gorge by learning about the history of the Oregon Trail and playing the Oregon Trail game and couldn’t wait to come explore it in the summer of 2015! What the pioneers endured to settle this country is sometimes incomprehensible. They would actually float everything they owned and everyone they loved down these unpredictable waters.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.“ Isaiah 43:2.

Although, thankfully, we no longer have to take the risks the pioneers did, our lives are still unpredictable. We run into challenges, obstacles, and adversity. Sometimes we don’t know what to do. Sometimes we don’t know if we’ll make it through the day.

I am so thankful that God knows and that He is in control of my life. He doesn’t promise that I will never have problems or heartbreak, but He does promise me that He will be with me, and He will steer me through rivers of sadness and danger.
