There is nothing quite like the great American road trip. Freedom lies before you. The open road promises the ultimate adventure, new possibilities, life-changing challenges. Although, I always loved the thought of going to places I’d never been before, I began these types of adventures later in my life, due to time, finances, and duties. But I learned it’s never too late, and once I started, I couldn’t get enough. It got in my blood.

This picture is from the first real cross-county road trip we ever took. We saw America’s amazing southwest for the first time, and this wonderful road in New Mexico was one of our first ventures off the interstates.

“And it will be said: ‘Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.’” Isaiah 57:14.

God is the original Designer of the open road. Here in Isaiah, He declares that He wants no obstacles to obstruct His people’s way. Through the gift of His precious Son, He has broken down every barrier that would keep us apart from Him. Every sin is forgiven through Christ. Every law and regulation is made null and void by Christ. Every excuse is wiped away in Christ.

Christ’s death on the cross and His resurrection three days later ensure that we have a clear road on which to travel. There is nothing standing in our way to keep us from a relationship with God.

What is keeping you from experiencing the adventures and freedom of the open road? More importantly, what is keeping you from the adventures and freedom found in a relationship with Christ?
